Take some formal coding and billing classes. get your coding and billing certification, and then apply to teach coding and billing at an institution that offers coding and billing training.  A degree in education doesnt mean someone can teach coding and billing.  You want to learn what you are teaching and you can answer the questions of your students with the understanding that you will be sending these people to work for doctors that might be taking care of you, your spouse, your parents or your children.

Opportunities can vary based on training, certification and/or experience as well as geographical area.

You can be in Ottumwa, Iowa and there is a huge demand for medical billers and you could be in San Francisco where there havent been any openings for the last 20 years with no opening in sight for the next 20 years, but opportunities open and close quickly.  Its a matter of being at the right place at the right time with the right training, certification and experience.  Most doctors and hospitals demand someone to have years of experience.  This is because the person you are replacing didnt have any, didnt have any training and caused financial problems.  I speak from personal experience with being hired to replace those terminated.

Success to you

Hell my name is Danniee my education is in healthcare and business management, yet I cant find a job. Heathcare is about to change in our country and doctors will be needing more assistance in medical billing. I have been interested in becoming a medical billing specialist and maybe working from home, so I'm here to learn as much as I can before spending anymore money on my education.
